Photo Exhibition on ‘Butterflies of Bangladesh’
Butterfly Bangladesh in collaboration with Bangladesh National Museum, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and Department of Zoology, Jagannath University have jointly organized a photo Exhibition on ‘Butterflies of Bangladesh’, from 11 September to 15 September 2015, at the main auditorium lobby (2nd floor), Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbag, Dhaka.
Prokriti Mela 2015
To create public awareness on various elements of environment and nature of Bangladesh Fresh – Channel i Prokriti Mela 2015 took place at Channel i premises on 31st January 2015 (Saturday). The daylong (11am to 5pm) Mela entailed around 20 stalls, nature related songs, dance, poetry recitation, puppet show, tree plantation, drawing competition, mime, gambhira, jatra pala, photo exhibition, free WiFi zone and so on. Renowned environmentalists, intellectuals, nature lovers, media personalities, artists, singers, writers, journalists, foreign delegates were present on the occasion. The whole festival was telecasted live on Channel i. To mark the occasion, a colorful Rally was organized on the 29th January 2015 (Thursday) at 1.00pm.

A press conference on ‘Fresh – Channel i Prokriti Mela 2015’ took place on 29th January 2015 (Thursday), at the Channel i Head Office. Mr. Muqeed Majumdar Babu, Chairman of Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and Director of Impress Telefilm Limited/Channel i; Mr. Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Limited/Channel i; Mr. Asif lqbal, ED-Marketing, Meghna Group of Industries; Mr. M. Anwarul Azim, Director, Media & International Business, Runner Automobiles Ltd.; Mr. Md. International Day for Biological Diversity - 2014
International Day for Biological Diversity – 2014 was observed on Saturday, 24 May 2014 with the theme “Island Biodiversity”. Nature Conservation Initiative of JU organized a daylong ‘Nature Festival’ at the Jaheer Raihan Auditorium of Jahangirnagar University (JU) to mark the day. Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and IUCN Bangladesh were co-organizers of the event.
Chairman of Prokriti O Jibon Foundation (POJF) & Director of Impress Group Mr. Muqeed Majumdar Babu, Country Representative of IUCN Bangladesh Mr. Ishtiaq Uddin Ahmad and Founder of Bangladesh bird club (Bbc) Mr. Enam Ul Haque were present at the event.
World Migratory Bird Day – 2014
World Migratory Bird Day – 2014 was observed on Sunday, 11 May 2014 with the theme “Destination Flyways: Migratory Birds and Tourism”. To mark the day, the Forest Department under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, People’s Republic of Bangladesh organized a discussion at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium, Dhaka.
Environment and Forests Minister Mr. Anwar Hossain Manju, Deputy Minister for Forests Mr. Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, Environment and Forests Secretary Mr. Shafiqur Rahman Patwari, Chief Conservator of forests Mr. Yunus Ali, Conservator of forests Mr. Tapan Kumar Dey, Bird expert Mr.Enam Ul Haque and Chairman of Prokriti O Jibon Foundation & Director of Impress Group Mr. Muqeed Majumdar Babu were present at the discussion.
100th Episode of Prokriti O Jibon TV Series
The popular TV series “Prokriti O Jibon” is celebrating its 100th episode. Prokriti O Jibon is the first ever TV series, of its kind of the country, featuring nature and biodiversity of Bangladesh. Unlike other episodes, this episode will highlight the Prokriti O Jibon Foundation’s team members, their hard work from behind the scene, their real life experiences and future plans.
Team members who were present at the studio are: Muqeed Majumdar Babu (Chairman), Mushfiq Ahmed (Programme Coordinator), Shamim Ahmed (Research Officer), Khairul Anam (IT & Communication Officer), Roman Saroar (Sr. Executive), Sohel Mazumder (Program Producer), Billal Howlader (Cameraman), Arif Baharder (Executive), Ahasun Shohag (Background Vocalist) and Himika Reza (Background Vocalist). The first part (out of 3) of this episode is due to be telecasted on 7th October, 2012.
World Tiger Day
The World Tiger Day was observed across the country with the theme of ‘Save Sundarbans, Save Tigers’ on Sunday 29 July, 2012. Environment and forest ministry, the Forest Department, the World Bank, the mobile telecom operator Banglalink and the Wildlife Trust of Bangladesh have jointly organized various programs at Osmani Memorial auditorium to mark the day including rallies, conferences and photography exhibitions. Prokriti O Jibon Foundation had also participated in the program.
World Migratory Bird Festival at NSU
DHAKA, MAY 12: On the occasion of the World Migratory Bird Day -2012, IUCN Bangladesh country office, in association with Prokriti O Jibon Foundation (POJF), North South University (NSU) and Bangladesh Bird Club organized a daylong Programme titled ‘World Migratory Bird Festival 2012’ at NSU campus on Saturday. Slogan of this year was ‘Migratory birds and people-together through time’.
Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Sattar, Vice Chancellor (in-charge) formally inaugurated the Programme and IUCN country representative Ishtiaq Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of Prokriti O Jibon Foundation Muqeed Majumdar Babu and President of Bangladesh Bird Club Enam Ul Haque delivered speeches concerning current status of migratory birds of world and Bangladesh. A quiz and art competition on migratory bird were also held.
Seylon gold-Channel i Prokriti Mela 12
To hark back to the colours of six seasons of Bangladesh and create awareness about the natural and environmental elements of Bangladesh, “Ceylongold-Channel i Prokriti Mela 2012” was held at Channel i premises on March 31, 2012.
The festival initiated with the symbolic release of caged parrots. To protect the nature and environment of the country, the fair had elaborately showcased programs including nature related music, recitation, painting, puppet show, performances of gambhira and Kobi gaan, photography exhibition, interviews, dance and more. The festival was jointly arranged by Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and Channel i.
Butterfly Fair 2011 at Jahangirnagar University
Aiming to promote the importance of butterflies in maintaining ecological balance, a butterfly fair has been held at Jahangirnagar University on 02 December, 2011. Live butterfly display, photography competition, drawing competition for children, kite flying, and film screening, among others, have marked the fair which was open for visitors from 9:30am to 4:30pm in front of Zahir Raihan auditorium.
With the theme "Uraley akashe projapoti, prokriti pai notun goti" (flying butterflies give new life to nature), the zoology department of the university organized it in collaboration with Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and in partnership with private television station, Channel i. JU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shariff Enamul Kabir inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. Freedom fighter Ferdouse Priovasheni and internationally acclaimed photographer Anwar Hossain, among others, was present at the ceremony.
To raise awareness about the diminishing numbers of birds and turtles in Bangladesh and what can be done to conserve their habitats Prokriti O Jibon Foundation, in association with IUCN Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bird Club and CARINAM organized Bird Festival at TSC (Teacher Student Centre) of Dhaka University of Bangladesh on 25th May, 2011.
Butterfly Fair 2010
A day-long butterfly fair has been held in Jahangirnagar University on 03 December, 2010. "Let butterflies fly in the sky and give a boost to the nature" was the slogan of the fair. The fair, held on Friday, was arranged to create awareness about butterflies' role in maintaining ecological balance.
Jahangirnagar University Vice Chancellor Professor Sharrif Enamul Kabir inaugurated the fair at 10.30am. The Vice-chancellor also inaugurated a children's painting competition and a photography exhibition of butterfly at the university's Zahir Raihan Auditorium.
The zoology department of the university organized the fair in collaboration with Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and in partnership with private television station, Channel i.
Extraordinary Grasshopper from Bangladesh
This Unidentified grasshopper is photographed from an unspoiled hill forest (semi-evergreen) in Bangladesh in August 2010. The majestic insect was spotted by the crew of a TV series about the biodiversity of Bangladesh, "Prokriti O Jibon", "Nature and Life".
